End The Backlog
http://www.endthebacklog.org

ENDTHEBACKLOG is a program of the Joyful Heart Foundation to shine a light on the backlog of untested rape kits throughout the United States. Our goal is to end this injustice by conducting groundbreaking research identifying the extent of the nation’s backlog and best practices for eliminating it, expanding the national dialogue on rape kit testing through increased public awareness, engaging communities and government agencies and officials and advocating for comprehensive rape kit reform legislation and policies at the localstate and federal levels. We urge you to learn more about the backlogwhere it exists and why it matters. We invite you to take action and support efforts to test rape kits. Help us send the message that we must take rape seriously.

While we are working on getting more details of the Voices Carry project added to this site, we would like to direct you to some great websites that have the best, and most current information about ending sexual violence and reforming laws to support survivors of these crimes. I will only post links to sites that are safe and secure.

Voices Carry is also asking for survivors to share their stories to be added to the site, to show the number of unjust practices some are faced with after reporting what happened to them. Where others have failed to protect them, here is a haven for their voice to be heard and a community to belong to. Together we can help support one another and demand for real changes to take place. Use the contact button below to share your story. You will receive an email with instructions on how to share a video or written story, a confidential, short survey about your experience, and where to send your story to.

PLEASE NOTE: All emails & stories are answered in the order they arrived and will be handled accordingly. Please be patient, and our staff will get them processed as soon as possible and added to the site.

"If we are able to test these rape kits, more crimes will be solved, more crimes will be prevented, and more women will be given back their lives...testing rape kits should be an absolute priority for the United States of America: It works, it matters, it brings closure, it brings justice and that's why we're here."

“Sex without consent is rape. And if you can’t consent because you’re unconscious, it is rape. It is rape. Period.”
